Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! We had some snow up here in good ole NY and I have to say it was nice being “snowed in.” I managed to clean out my DVR and get a few projects done. I decided that since we are so close to Christmas that I am going to hit you guys up everyday this week with a Christmas craft! Das right! 5 whole days straight of Christmas goodness! So if you haven’t subscribed yet, you’re gonna want to get on that or just make sure to come back and check it out! So today we are going to start with one of my favorite crafts and it involved the ever so versatile, pine cones! I’ve seen so many cute ideas with pine cones all over the place that I thought I would take a stab at it. I mean I did OD on them this year but I can’t help it! What do you think is going to happen when Michaels puts a bag on sale for $1.99! So my idea was to turn them into little Christmas trees. I had the whole idea but nothing to put them in until I walked by these suckers that I’ve had for years.
I’m pretty sure they’re suppose to be a lot larger than this but the last time I watered or cared for these guys Jack Bauer still had 23 hours left in his day! Needless to say I wanted the little white planters they were in so bye bye cacti.
Now let’s get to the fun part of the project, painting! I measured out 3 pinecones that would sit well in the holders and not fall straight in.
Then I started painting. I chose to do two in white (for snowfall) and one in green. I just painted the tips of the cones for the white ones and for the green one I went a little on the inside as well.
To give the white holders a little something I wrapped them in burlap and tied a bow with just some twine!
So simple right? I’m all about simplicity these days! I love how they add that touch of nature to the rest of my decor! Have you done any Christmas crafts with pine cones this year?
I’m sharing this project over at Newly Woodwards in the last of the Dare to DIY series! I’ve had so much fun!
