I seriously cannot believe that it’s been a whole year since my daughter came into this world! People always said it goes by so fast and they weren’t kidding. It literally feels like I just brought her home from the hospital and here we are celebrating her first birthday! I know that 1 year olds have no idea what a birthday party is and will never remember it but I like to look at it as more of a celebration for my husband and me for surviving a year with a baby haha! We rocked it!
I decided to go with a unicorn theme party because, I mean how magical are unicorns?? It was so much fun putting everything together and seeing my vision come to life. Below you’ll find photos of the party and then I listed either where I purchased something or how I DIY’d it! Hope you love it!
UNICORN LANTERNSThese unicorn lanterns are 14″ in diameter and found HERE.
For the horns I used Metallic Gold Tissue Paper found HERE and used THIS image to help trace and cut the shape out.
For the lashes I simply googled an image of unicorn lashes, printed them and cut them out.
The flowers are tissue paper flowers. You can use THIS tutorial and I use THIS tissue paper.
Everything was then just hot glued on and then I used string to hang them!
UNICORN CENTERPIECE
Using gold glittered card stock I traced a horn template and then cut it out.For the flowers I cut squares of felt and made the flowers by cutting a spiral and hot gluing it together.
I hot glued everything to a mason jar and then used a sharpie to make the lashes.
I purchased the letters at TARGET
I painted the O white and added some flowers I found at Michaels. For the N, I used rose gold cardstock found HERE and then painted the rest of the letter pink. I wrapped the E in a turquoise streamer and added more of the flowers.
For the favor bags I used THESE and then I cut the horn and flowers out from THIS blog post minus the lashes which I drew on myself with a sharpie.
PIN THE HORN ON THE UNICORN
I projected the image and then using watercolor I painted it. The horns were the same that I used for the centerpieces.
HIGHCHAIR BANNERThe hanging streamers are actually plastic tablecloths that I cut into strips. The ONE banner is all hand cut from images I traced onto cardstock.
DESSERT TABLE
As a backdrop I used a white curtain in the center and for the sides I cut strips of pink, lavender, and robin’s egg blue tablecloths bought HERE.
The Eliza Is One banner I made by using card stock in similar colors and cut out the triangular shape and added the letters.
The unicorn silhouette was done by projecting the image on a large white poster board and then using glue and glitter, I covered it and hung it using fishing wire.
My absolute favorite craft was her monthly photo banner. I created an image of numbers with flowers and a horn attached and mounted it onto glittered cardstock cut into circles and then printed her photos and attached them.
BALLOON UNICORN
I mean how freaking cool is this! The balloon arch was so easy to do I can pretty much promise you I will find any excuse to throw a party just so I can make one! For the top I projected the images on poster board and then added glitter to the horn and watercolored the ears. For the lashes I just cut out the shape. They are a little hard to see in the photos but they were glorious! For the balloons I used THESE balloons and THIS balloon strip to create the cascading balloons. I also used THIS machine to blow all the balloons up because no one has the breath for this!
Happy First Birthday to our little girl!!
