Ikea Lack Side Table Hack

I went and did it again. I hacked another piece of Ikea furniture! This is starting to get fun! In case you missed it, here’s the last one I did.  The piece I worked on this time around was the Lack side table.  I used to have the coffee table that went with it before I replace it. I remember seeing someone who had the table wrap it in fabric and I loved how it looked so I thought I would give it a go! My goal was to replace all the dark furniture in my living room by the end of the year and besides the sad couch issue I was able to accomplish it! 

The fabric I chose to use was this Faux Crocodile one.  The table was super easy to wrap because the legs come right off so after measuring them (roughly 16″ long and 2″ wide on each side) I cut 4 pieces at 15 3/4″ x 8 3/4″.  Using spray adhesive I wrapped the fabric around each leg.

For the top I measured 3 extra inches all around and in true upholstering form I used my staple gun and shot a staple in the middle all around.

For the corners I put together this pictorial because, well, I don’t know how to explain what I did! 

I continued stapling the rest of the fabric down and then screwed the legs back on.

I added a few new items to the table like this new gold dipped honeycomb Threshold lamp from Target and this basket which I am in love with! Thank goodness for gift cards!!

While I was all set to purchase a new side table I’m happy I went with hacking what I already had. I already owned the table and the fabric was only $15/yd so it was totally worth it! It adds a nice texture that the space really needed!  Here’s a before and after shot…
