{Beauty Tip Tuesday} How To Clean Your Hair Tools

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a beauty tip Tuesday so I’m happy to get back into it! The other day my cousin was over and she had her curling iron out. I asked her if I could use it and when I looked down at it I thought hmm this needs some major cleaning! That’s what brought me here. If you tend to use a lot of hair products, especially hair spray then you might start to get some build-up on your tools. How To Clean Your Hair Tools How To Clean Your Hair Tools All you need to make them look like new again is some rubbing alcohol and a scrubbing brush.
How To Clean Your Hair Tools A little elbow grease can’t hurt either! Make sure your tool is not plugged in. You do not need it to be on and hot for this to work! Just work your scrubber in circular motions and before you know it, it’ll be as good as new! How To Clean Your Hair Tools How To Clean Your Hair Tools Now go grab your tools and get to cleaning!

Beauty Tip Tuesday: Curling Lashes

Beauty Tip Tuesday BannerThere are a few tricks you can do to help give your tired eyes/face a little pick me up.  One of the easiest tricks is curling your lashes.  Simply using an eye lash curler can open your eyes and make you appear more awake and alert, especially on a Tuesday after a three day weekend ha!

A little trick that can help your curl last is heating your eye lash curler.  Just like a curling iron to your hair, a heated lash curler can help the hair on your eyes hold that curl.  Some people like to blast a blow dryer to their curler but that to me takes too much time and it doesn’t really allow me to control the amount of heat to my curler and can result in me burning myself. Instead of having to plug something in I use hot water from the bathroom sink.  Tips to Curling Your Lashes

Not only does it heat up the curler but it gives you a chance to clean it when you wipe the water off. All that is left to do is curl your lashes.

I curled the lashes on the left eye with a heated curler and the right eye with a non heated curler.  I then let my eyes sit like that for about 10-15 minutes.  It’s clear which eye held out longer! And look at how more open that eye looks! Tips to Curling Your LashesDo you heat your eyelash curler? Think you’ll try it out?

GRWM: Date Night

Woohoo! The day has finally come! I have finally filmed a hair and makeup video! I can’t begin to tell you how many videos I filmed that either uploaded incorrectly, were completely out of focus or my camera died mid recording. But I finally got it together and am popping my makeup video cherry.  I have filmed some hair videos in the past. This one and this one but this is my first video working with makeup and I can’t wait to do more!

Since I really wanted to try out the whole lighting, and editing of this type of video first, I don’t actually speak.  It’s a simple Get Ready With Me video. I also sped up most scenes since it would have been a long one!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy and all the products I used are listed under the video on Youtube.  I’ll post the video here for you to watch or you can go straight to my channel to check it out there along with all the details! While you’re there don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out on future videos and tutorials and give it a thumbs up! Thanks so much for all the love 🙂

Beauty Tip Tuesday: The Correct Way to Apply Concealer

Beauty Tip Tuesday Banner

Welcome to another week of beauty tips! As I have been trying to come up with ideas on tips I want to share I find myself saying, “Oh people already know that,” or “Who hasn’t seen this before?” But the truth is when working with my clients I have found that many, and I mean many women are uneducated when it comes to makeup. So I am just going to give you all I got in my bag of tricks!

Today I am going to share the proper way to wear concealer.  That is not to say there is a wrong way to wear it. Let’s just say there is a better way to wear it than we are used to.  Ideally, concealer is used to do just that, conceal. Whether you have a blemish, a scar, or dark circles under your eyes, concealer can hide all those flaws.  I’m going to focus on the under eye area today when it comes to concealing.

Due to lack of sleep and the majority of the time, genetics, dark circles are hard to avoid.  Concealer not only hides them but worn properly it can brighten your face and certainly make you look way more awake then you actually are. Makeup is magic people!

Most woman will take there concealer right under their eye to their problem area when in fact you should be bringing the concealer down in a triangular shape. Also, try using a concealer one shade lighter than your skin to help with brightening!

How to Properly Wear Concealer I Made2Style Applying the concealer just under the eye like on the right will give you the look like you’ve been wearing the goggles for too long in the tanning bed! Applying it like I did on the left will not only cover your dark circles but it will give the appearance that your face is lifted!

How to Properly Wear Concealer I Made2StyleOnce you’ve blended the concealer out, whether you used a brush, a sponge, or your finger, make sure you set it with powder. Continue with your bronzer/blush.

Beauty Tip Tuesday: How To Blend Eyeshadow

Beauty Tip Tuesday Banner

Happy Tuesday everyone! So I’ve decided to start a little series here called Beauty Tip Tuesday.  The premise is to obviously share some great beauty tips that will help your beauty routine.  I will try my best to post something each Tuesday. This week is all about the proper way to blend your eyeshadow! When applying more than one color to your lid (you should always have a transition color) the key to a flawless look is to blend the two together.  The way you hold your brush can make or break the amount of time it takes to blend! Naturally when we are applying makeup we hold our brushes/pencils facing upward. This makes the process of blending quite difficult.

How To Properly Blend Your Eyeshadow I Made2Style

When blending you want to go back and fourth across your crease in windshield wiper motions.  When you hold your brush upward like in the above photo, the top of the bristles are not going to allow the shadow to blend. It will only create a line of shadow across your eye.

To get the blending look there are two ways to hold your brush. The first way is facing downward. How To Properly Blend Your Eyeshadow I Made2StyleThis helps to blend the shadow by using the bristles on the side. The most optimal way to blend your shadow and to assure your blending it above the crease and also below would be to hold it straight on.

This will allow the shadow on your lid to blend with your crease color and also allow your crease color to seamlessly blend into your brow shadow!

I’m sure you’ve probably never really taken the time to think about how you hold your brushes but a little adjustment like this can make a big difference! Comment below and let me know what you think or if you have any questions you’d want me to cover on the next Beauty Tip Tuesday! In the meantime I’m going to go do something about these pores! Geez

Skin Care Routine

After sharing my current hair routine I thought I’d come back and share the skin care products that I have been using lately.  This cold winter has been wreaking havoc on my skin! Usually I am a normal/combination skin kinda girl but once the weather gets colder my skin becomes so dry.  It’s always this time when I reevaluate my skin care products.  What works for me during the warmer climate is certainly not what’s going to work now.  My goal with my skin care right now is focusing on keeping hydrated but also working on evening my skin tone. My skin is far from perfect but I have definitely seen an improvement! Some products have remained in my routine from the last time I posted about my skin care but I have switched up a few products.

First let’s start out with my tried and true:

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleClarisonic Mia
I use my Clarisonic about once to twice a week.  Too much use can irritate my skin so I stick to using it when I know I need a good deep cleaning.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2Style Neutrogena Face Wash
I’m still using my Neutrogena cleanser. I love how simple and gentle it is yet it completely cleans off all my makeup.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleSkin Ceuticals
Sometimes I will use this Skin Ceuticals cleanser when I feel like my pores need some deep cleaning. The Salicylic Acid works well to help prevent any breakouts.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleBiore Pore Strips
These stripes have always worked so well for me so whenever I feel it’s necessary, I’ll lay this right on any trouble spots.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleMario Badescu Facial Spray
This facial spray has been a life saver with my dry face! I spritz it all over right before applying my moisturizer, both day and night. I’m not the biggest fan of the rose smell but it doesn’t linger so I deal. It is so refreshing and I love that my skin isn’t so dry before putting on my moisturizer.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleNia 24
I read a ton of reviews on this product right here and so many people said that they saw immediate results. I had to give it a try and while it was a bit pricey I’m so glad I did.  I didn’t see immediate results but I definitely have seen a change in my skin as I have been using it.  I’ve noticed that my dark spots have lightened and my overall skin tone has begun to even out. I only use this product in the morning underneath my makeup.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2Style Cerve
For night I chose the CeraVe PM lotion.  I didn’t want anything too heavy on my skin while I sleep. I feel like I just need a lightweight product to allow my skin to really breath and this does just that. I always shower at night and once I am out I spray my facial spray all over apply this to my face and neck.

Skin Care Routine @ Made2Style Glycolic Acid Pads
These have been new to my routine.  I’ve been using these pads for about 2 weeks now. If you’ve ever heard of a glycolic peel these pads are pretty much the at-home version of that.  My best friend got me into these and I really love them.  I use it 3x times a week. Each pad has exfoliating benefits to it so it really scrubs and gets rid of dead skin as well as minimizing pores and fine lines and works at reducing sun damaged skin.  I use this after I’ve cleaned my face, leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off. After 3 weeks of use there is no need to rinse off and as long as you build your skins tolerance you can up the % in your next jar. It does have a little tingle when it’s on your face but that just makes me feel like it’s working!

s1121797-main-Lhero Josie Maran Argan Oil
Whenever my skin is in need of a little more moisture I will squeeze a few drop of this into my moisturizer and mix it before applying to my face.  I know what you must be thinking, oil on your face? Trust me guys, this stuff is lightweight and doesn’t clog pores or cause any breakouts. It simply adds a soft glow and your thirsty skin will absorb it right up!

604-357571-indulgentcoconutmilk_tripplebuttersBW_300x300 St. Ives Body Wash
Let’s talk body now! I love this St. Ives body wash! It smells like the beach and doesn’t leave any type of residue on my skin. I’ve used other body washes that leave my skin itchy and crying for lotion afterward but this stuff is so moisturizing!

beautycounter-glow-sugar_scrub-495x650Glow Sugar Scrub
I love me a good body scrub. Anything that is going to get rid of dead skin while leaving me feeling so soft I am down for! This particular scrub is from Beauty Counter. If you haven’t heard of them you need to educate yourself! Beauty Counter creates products that are toxin-free and only have the safest ingredients! It’s pretty scary to think about all the chemicals that go inside the products we use! Lucky for me one of my really good friends is a consultant so I can order straight from her and lucky for you so can you! Just click here to read more about their amazing products and to order some of your own!

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleHydrate Body Lotion
I’m loving this body lotion! It has a great citrus smell and is so lightweight! It goes on so easily, and is quickly absorbed which is key for me.  I don’t know about you but I hate when I put a body lotion on and then try to put on my clothes and everything sticks to me because the lotion is too creamy. This leaves my skin feeling soft and definitely moisturized!

Skin Care Routine @ Made2StyleTan Physics
Last but not least let’s talk sunless tanning, a must have if you ask me during the winter months! I’ve been using Tan Physics for about two years now and I really love it.  It doesn’t leave me orange rather a nice bronze and it also doesn’t have a strong smell like most sunless tanners do. The other great thing about this product is that it seriously makes my skin so incredibly soft! I even apply it on my face and have had absolutely no issues with it.  It lasts roughly about a week and spreads perfectly without any blotchiness!

So there you have it! Every lotion, moisturizer, oil and what have you that I slap on this face and body! Now tell me, what are your go to skin care products? Have you ever tried any of these and had success/failure? Anyone else feel like they are constantly working toward an even skin tone?
